When you decide to invest in placing an ad whether in print or online, you need to ask yourselves some questions and ensure you fulfil some of the key requirements of a really successful ad. Here are some tips to help.
Tip 1: Every ad needs an attention grabbing statement whether written or broadcast.
Tip 2: What do you want people to do? What do they need to know to want to do it? Don’t put unnecessary info in.
Tip 3: How influential is your brand? If you’re not a nationally known name, it might not need to be very big in your ad – focus on what the reader gets.
Tip 4: Don’t forget to include a means of contacting you and your web address. Sounds obvious, but it’s surprising how many people forget!
Tip 5: If you want people to be impressed when they visit your website check the image is consistent and the site is sticky.
Tip 6: If you’ve got pictures in your ad, put them to the right and copy to the left, this helps all of your message to be read.
Tip 7: When including testimonials ONLY use the power statement, not the whole thing. Ads are expensive, use the space wisely.
These are just a few pieces of advice – but they will help you to get your ad focused and to use that valuable space well.
